ARC offers a range of complementary therapies free of charge in group classes and workshops.
Moving Mindfully with Cancer
This a seven-week course that offers people with cancer practical coping techniques to manage the stress of a cancer diagnosis and its effects.
Relaxation and Visualisation
This workshop offers different techniques that leave the body relaxed, calm and focused.
Mindfulness
These drop-in classes provide techniques that focus on the emotions, thoughts and sensations enabling you to live more fully in the now.
Positive Appearance Workshop
These workshops give advice on the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment, including breast care, specialist skincare and cosmetics.
Yoga
These sessions give stretching, breathing, relaxation and meditation exercises to stimulate body and mind.
Pilates
This six-week pilates programme helps create a strong mind and body connection that will spill into everyday life and help you regain control. Using safe and supportive body movement, you can improve your posture, regain muscular strength and endurance, and increase your range of motion.Creative Classes
A range of art, writing, knitting, crocheting and flower-arranging sessions offer an opportunity to unleash your artistic and creative side.
Cancer Support Groups
These gatherings provide support to people with all types of cancer. In addition, there are specific groups for people with breast cancer and myeloma.
Open Men's Support Group
A monthly support group for men diagnosed with any type of cancer.
Prostate Cancer Programme
This six-week course, aimed at men diagnosed with prostate cancer, provides education and support, as well as the opportunity to meet other men in similar situations and share experiences.
Living with Secondary Cancer Programme
This eight-week programme aims to provide people diagnosed with secondary cancer information, support and an opportunity to meet with other people who have had a similar diagnosis.
Stress Management
These closed-group programmes for patients or carers offer support and understanding of the difficulties of managing a diagnosis and the impact on body, mind and spirit. Each week a coping technique is explored that can be put into daily practice to minimise stress.
CLIMB® Programme for Children (Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery)
This six-week programme is designed especially for children of primary school-going age (5-11years) who have a parent or a significant adult who has been diagnosed with cancer. The sessions are designed to be fun and involve discussion, art and play to assist children to understand and express the feelings they have.
